Located at the west entrance of the Yellowstone National Park, the Yellowstone Giant Screen Theatre is a “must-see” on your travel itinerary. At six stories tall, our 60` x 80` screen is the only certified Giant Screen Theatre in a twelve-state area. Museum of the Rockies (MOR) is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, a college-level division of Montana State University, a Smithsonian Affiliate, and a repository for state and federal fossils. MOR is recognized as a world-class cultural and natural history museum and research facility. It is renowned for displaying an extensive collection of dinosaur fossils, including the fully-mounted Montana`s T. rex skeleton! MOR delights members and visitors with changing exhibits from around the world, cultural and natural history exhibits, planetarium shows, educational programs and camps, insightful lectures, benefit events, and a museum store.

Beginning in 1999, the Wild West Yellowstone Rodeo has grown over the last few years. Once put on in a small arena in town, the event now takes place at a larger rodeo arena located just four miles west of West Yellowstone just off Highway 20. The rodeo performances begin at 8 PM each night and continue until all scheduled events have been completed. Typical events include barebacking riding, team roping, saddle bronc riding, breakaway roping, bull riding, and even a special “calf Scramble” for the kids. The rodeo takes place evenings from early July through late August.

The slide moved at 100 mph and in less than 1 minute, over 80 million tons of rock crashed into the narrow canyon, blocking the Madison River and forming Earthquake Lake. This earth-changing event, known as the Hebgen Lake Earthquake, measured 7.5 on the Richter scale. At the time it was the second-largest earthquake to occur in the lower 48 states in the 20th century. Twenty-eight people lost their lives in the event. In 1967, the Forest Service`s Earthquake Lake Visitor Center opened its doors for the first season of operation. Today, the center provides interpretive services for more than 50,000 visitors annually. The natural attractions and the easily seen effects of the strongest earthquake in the Rocky mountains has made this area one of the outstanding scenic and geological study areas in the west. The Earthquake Lake Visitor Center is open daily from June through mid-September. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Experience the traditional art of live performances at the Playmill Theatre. The Playmill shows are centered around fun and family values. The cast offers a personal and interactive experience from the time you are greeted and shown to your seat through the entire performance. In addition to an opening including songs, the cast captivates and entertains viewers with a variety show and featured production.
